The new Harvey reading room is serving the 100 children of the after-school program with book clubs—and new take-home books—twice a week. We have installed hundreds of new, beautiful books, for a current collection total of approximately 1500 books. But: we need MORE! MORE! MORE! Our shelves will hold more than 3000.

Many thanks to the Center for Teaching Through Children’s Books at National-Louis University, located at the University’s Skokie, IL campus. The Center donated 150 new (and newly-published) books for distribution to the children served by our Harvey site. Look in the Gallery for pictures of our resultant mini-bookfair. Those titles not initially grabbed now wait quietly in the reading room, waiting to be selected as a take-home books.
